For those of you who don’t know it yet, Portland, Oregon’s best dance party – Live & Direct PDX – goes down the second Friday of every month at Rotture (315 SE 3rd Ave.) Every month we’ve got veteran deejays Rev Shines (from Life Savas), DJ Nature, and myself bringing you live remixes on stage of all your favorite hip hop classics.

This month’s Biggie tribute was the hottest party yet!! You really outdid yourself this time, Portland: you packed the halls to capacity and every time I looked, folks were still lined up outside waiting to get in. You all were still dancing when the lights came on – you did a brotha proud! (Check out the pictures below.)

But Biggie wasn’t the only one deserving a tribute that night … so in honor of the victims of the Japan distaster, local artists Josh Clay and Taka Sudo (representing Tokyo) auctioned off the live painting they did for us at the party and donated 100% of the proceeds to disaster relief in Japan. The finished piece sold for $2,100.

Thanks again to everyone who came out and supported. It’s always a blast. See you again in April! Until next month, Portland … stay weird. Be sure to join the L&D family on Facebook and download our free mixtape here every month:
